PhD, Language Technology and Applied Linguistics (MAAUN) · MA, Applied Linguistics (University of Liverpool, UK) · BA, English Language (Bayero University, Kano)
Assistant Professor K. Abdullahi is the Vice President, Campus Life at Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria, following the expiration of the tenure of Dr. Hamza Garba. He is a faculty member in the General Education Directorate, teaching General English, Academic Writing, Academic Reading, and Business Communication at the undergraduate level, and Applied Linguistics, Advanced Syntax, and Technology in Education at the postgraduate level.
He is a champion of technology in education. In 2025, he proposed a language learning application aimed at addressing the shortage of language technology tools for learning, teaching, and preserving Nigerian languages — a gap he contrasts with the abundance of such tools available for European and Asian languages. His work was motivated in part by UNESCO's Language Technology for All report by French language technology advocate Joseph J. Mariani, which found that only 100–150 of the world's more than 7,000 languages currently benefit from language technology. In response, he designed a wireframe for a grapheme-sound production application to support reading acquisition in Nigerian languages.
As Vice President, Campus Life, he brings that same focus on technology to student life at MAAUN — leading the development of a standalone Campus Life portal to bring together and automate the office's activities across the university.
